Kegunaan dari Simple Present Tense adalah :
1.
Menjelaskan suatu kebiasaan.
2.
Menceritakan sesuatu yang sering terjadi.
3.
Menjelaskan suatu kebenaran umum (General
Truth).
Formula:
(+) S + V1/
V1+s/es + The rest of sentence
(-) S +
Don’t / Doesn’t + V1 + The rest of sentence
(?) Do/Does
+ S + V1 + The rest of sentence
Note :
Imbuhan S
atau Es pada verb digunakan bila subjek yang digunakan adalah orang ketiga
tunggal (she, he dan it).
Sedangkan
Verb original digunakan jika subjek yang digunakan adalah orang pertama, kedua,
dan ketiga jamak. (I, We, You, They)
Adverb yang
digunakan :

Adverb
of time: Every day (setiap hari), Every night (setiap malam), every morning
(setiap pagi), on Sunday (di hari minggu), etc.
·
Adverb
of frequency: Always (selalu), Never (tidak pernah), Ever (pernah), Usually
(biasanya), Often (sering), hardly ever (hampir tidak pernah), Seldom (jarang),
Habitually (biasanya), Sometimes (kadang kadang)
Example:
(+) I go to
school every day.
(-) I don’t
go to school every day.
(?) Do I go
to school every day?
(+) She
drives to work carefully on Sunday.
(-) She doesn’t drive to work carefully on Sunday.
(?) Does she drive to work carefully on Sunday?
Contoh di dalam dialog:
Amy : Look
Penny! I see a handsome boy in front of that house.
Penny : yes you
are right. Do you want to ask his name?
Amy : of course
I do. He is so cute you know. Do you know his name?
Penny : Yes I do,
his name is Jake. He goes to the same school as me. He often goes to school with me.
Amy : Oh really?
Let’s go there so that I can talk to him.
Penny : Ok let’s
go.
Contoh dalam report text:
Cow is a
mammal. It has four legs. It produces milk. It usually eats grass and leaves as
its main food. Actually, it’s not a dangerous animal, but if you disturb it, it
will attack you harmfully. We can find cows in a farm and in the wild life. But
nowadays, cows are often placed in a farm, because its milk is valuable. Having
cows as our cattle is often profitable, because they produce milks, and we can
sell them in a good price.
Text dan dialog di atas mayoritas menggunakan simple present
tense agar kita tahu contoh penerapan simple present tense.
